"Want some?"
If Colin lifts his head, Bene waggles the nozzle at him.
no subject
"Thanks." More tired blinking. "Feeling better, then?"
no subject
He's definitely feeling better.
no subject
"Love you."

"You did something today that wasn't good," he murmurs. "Then, right when you'd gotten away with it, you owned up to it. I'm really proud of you."

"So maybe," and he takes another drag of smoke, leaning in to kiss Bene and share it. "So maybe, the spanking can be something we do when you're good."
no subject
"But--" he murmurs, smoke puffing from his mouth with the breath, "...how does that work?" He can be very astute when he wants, but maybe not while in the process of getting high.

"I mean-- it's not punishment then, is it?"
no subject
"Do you...want it to be? In, like, an actual BDSM way and not the child abuse way."
no subject
"...would that be a bad thing?" he asks, not even completely certain where he stands.
no subject
"I love," he says warmly, "when you just...top the hell out of me. I love it. I love the way you tease; I love how it makes me feel helpless and small, 'cause it means...I don't know, I feel free. Spoiled. Wanted. I love when I have to beg you for more. I love how hard I come when you finally let it happen. I love how close it makes me feel to you when I'm so vulnerable."
He cranes upward to press a chaste kiss to Bene's lips.
"If it's what you want, I'd love the chance to make you feel the way you make me feel."
no subject
He meets the kiss magnanimously, but his smile returns to something a bit more timid when Colin continues, and he gives a little nod. It's not often that he feels vulnerable; he thinks he likes it.

Then, she knocks.
"You told me to knock before coming into your room," she says, pressing her face into the corner where the door meets the jamb. "Can I come in please? I knocked, you're not fucking, and I can hear the hookah bubbling and I'm kinda freaking out right now so can I please just come in and take a hit please?"
no subject
"Come on in. What's wrong?"
no subject
"Look at this shit, look at this shit," she says, swapping her phone for the hose in Colin's hand so he can look and she can toke. "I called him. I called Alexios and his number is disconnected. Then, then. I get like, three calls in the past three days from an unknown number--the same unknown number every time."
Clearly, to Tessa, that means something.
no subject
"Call it back?"
no subject
Tessa shoves her hair out of her face and snatches her phone back, replacing it with the hose again and tip-tapping through the various menus.
"What if something happened? What if Alex's phone is disconnected because he got whacked by some heavy hitter, ya know? And now they're coming after me because I know too much--or holy shit, what if Alexios hired a hitman because he's pissed that I set an ultimatum, and that's why he's not texting me, and he changed his number, and--"
In the midst of her scrolling, the phone starts to buzz in her hand and she yelps with surprise and tosses it to Colin like a hot-potato.
no subject
Seeing that these two clearly aren't going to get anything done, he casually takes the phone and swipes to answer.
"Yes?"
no subject
It's not Alexios, or a hitman. It's the American Red Cross advertising for a blood drive in Buffalo, New York.
Tessa exhales, realizing only just now that she'd been holding her breath, but it's not a sigh of relief. If anything, it's a sound of disappointment, which in itself is infuriating, and she looks incredulously at her phone in Benedict's hand.
"I've never even been to Buffalo!"
no subject
Clearly a little irritated with Tessa, but not enough to get up or say anything about it, he just gives her a Look and hands her the nozzle.
"So it's a wrong number," he sighs.
no subject
"Maybe..." After a lengthy pause, he finds he cannot spin this in a comforting way. Instead, he reaches out to pat her shoulder.
no subject
"It's ok, Colin," she says in response to the hand on her shoulder. It's not okay, but she's trying to fake it til she makes it, so she's gotta be cool. "Just a wrong number. No big deal. Much better than...whatever."
Whatever, in this context, means proof that Alexios ever gave a damn, one way or another. Yeah, it's dramatic, but nothing about that relationship was boring or chill. Tessa stands up and checks the time on her phone.
"Weeeelllll I should go eat that tub of ice cream in the freezer to fully embody this stereotype so--" Waving once, quite awkwardly, she shows herself out and closes the door behind her.
